Facebook Apps Could Be Useful

Facebook Logo I have gotten interested in Facebook apps over the last month and I have started writing one in my spare time (so its coming along very slowly as you could imagine). I have found that they are an excellent way of getting information out to a large audience, as long s you have something that people are interested in that is ;) and that’s one of the big problems at the moment. I find that all the apps out at the moment are pretty S**T and useless (bar a few of course) and that means there is really an opportunity to get some apps out that are actually useful. There are also advertising companies that are now offering inventory for facebook developers to monitize their creations. Its also a useful way of advertising your own web applications by offering widgets that link into the main application. After all, why wouldn’t you want to advertise to an audience of 50 million? It would be crazy not to.

So I can never say if I will get time to finish the app as I am very busy with Digaset at the moment, but I would like to complete one just for the experience if anything else. Plus we have mentioned creating a social app for a Digaset offshoot in the future so the experience will come in useful. Keep reading as I may be asking you for some advice in the near future about some features that might be useful and that you might use yourself.

Christmas Over, Work Begins!

Well, Christmas is now over for this year and it already seems that there is a countdown to next Christmas :( but one thing is for sure, work continues (well after new year ;) ). The good news is that I now have a date set for my first online store for the beginning of February. This is as long as nothing major goes wrong before then of course. My plan then is to just let that store run on its own steam, investing almost all money that it makes back into promoting it. To be honest it is more of an experiment for me to see just how to grow a business using the different strategies for promoting the business. Hopefully anything that is learned can be used to full effect once Digaset is released. This definitely needs excellent marketing and to provide customer service if it is to succeed as we hope it will, and to be honest we need all the help we can get so learning from the first shop is a good way to do this.

The Opposing Opinion

For all of you out there that think that we are to blame for global warming should probably take a look at this video for an opposing opinion. It is very interesting with some interesting scientific reasonings. I am not trying to turn anyones hand but I find it interesting to hear opinions from both sides of a debate. It was originally aired on channel 4 about 6 – 9 months ago and lasts for about 1.15 hours. Enjoy ;)

Back From Amsterdam!

Well I am now back from weekend in Amsterdam but will be in Cambridge for a catch up with friends until Tuesday. It was an amazing weekend in a superb city which I would recommend to anyone. Just go easy on the beer though ;)

Is it Boom Time for British Tech?

According to an article on the BBC it is, but I am not so sure. The truth of the matter is that we definitely have the talent available in the UK. Almost everyone I work with is very smart and very able, but that has never really been our problem. The people with the money is our problem as they are usually just more careful about what they do with it or at least expect too much of the business to make it viable for someone to put all their time and effort into making it a success compared to our American counterparts.
