Digital Asset Management System

I have been working on a digital asset management system with Jon. It’s aim is to take DAM to the next level providing features that actually allow companies to streamline their internal processes by ensuring staff follow defined workflow’s that allow company policy to be followed and providing project management feedback. The front-end was designed to be familiar to the users by mimicking the common desktop theme. This was designed by Jon and was written using XHTML and Javascript. Here are a few pictures taken from Jon’s website to show you what it’s all about.

Social Recruitment System and Niche Recruitment

Are you fed up with getting bogged down with requests from agents and recruitment consultants? Putting up your CV onto the large job sites only to get a million requests back with nothing that actually suits you? Are you a company that receives too many CV’s for each position then having to waste a huge amount of time sifting through them all to find the best person? When you think about it, are these recruitment companies saving you or costing you time? Well I have been working on a system that can help with these problems. It aims to cut out (the crap) agencies and turn the traditional system on its head. Its time for companies to easily find the right people and for the right opportunities to find the right candidates. Soon, the jobs will be coming to you. The Niche part is a system that will help a select group of people to find the best possible careers.

Advertising Analysis System

It amazes me just how much is being wasted placing adverts on sites where the target audience is completely wrong. In the past I worked on the advertising system for a large online publishing company. The age of their actual audience was between 9 and 15 yet the majority of ads were for insurance products and others that were obviously aimed for 18+. These were charged at a CPM rate so therefore the publisher won and the advertiser lost. In reality, both parties lose and the middle man wins. If publishers had a reputation for certain user groups based on how well they have performed they would be able to charge more for properly targeted adverts and publishers would be willing to pay more because they would get a better return.

I was amazed when a company came to us directly and asked us to do a campaign for a product that was targeted towards our audience. This campaign had a CTR (click through rate) of 40%+. Doesn’t that just go to show how properly targeted ads work better? It has become part of culture for people to hate adverts. They do everything that they can to block these ads. I think this is mainly due to being bombarded with campaigns for products and services that they have no need for. Overall this has negatively impacted on the entire industry. Why has Google become so successful? Because their ads are shown based on what the user is searching for – it works. But even Google don’t want to tell you too much because they make too much money by you not knowing.

An issue with targeted ads is that companies are trying to track what users are doing and this is causing issues with privacy. It is clear that people do not like being tracked and there are obvious reasons why this is. I don’t think you have to track what people are doing to actually target them. Actions speak louder than words.

I don’t think that the current system works but the big boys are not willing to change it because they are making too much money from the way it currently works. You get tracking but it is very limited. It might target geographically, show you how many impressions you have and how many clicks but, how many of your systems actually tell you exactly where each ad is shown and how well they are performing against a standard average – are you doing well or under performing? What happens when you want to spread one campaign over many different platforms and to also buy directly from publishers? How do you manage tracking the campaign over multiple locations and how do you get the system to tell you how well the campaign is performing and where it is doing best and recommend how you can do better?

Well the advert analysis system that I am working on is going to do all this and more. Want to know the best place to advertise – we will tell you. No more guessing. Track your campaigns over multiple distributors and more. Find out information that they don’t want you to know. STOP WASTING YOUR GOOD MONEY ON USELESS ADVERTISING.

Content Sharing Mechanism

People like sharing content. It’s good for business as it spreads the word and also provides quality (is the hope) back links to provide a higher classification of your own content. I know that there are article sites out there that you can upload your content to and then share, but doesn’t it make sense to provide a platform for this that ensures the delivery to the correct places whilst at the same time filtering out the good from the weak. For some reason, this has taken my interest even more so than the ad analysis system, so I aim to get a bit of this done in the near future. There is quite a bit more to it, but I don’t want to go spilling the beans too early now.
